Flu Precautions

While flu season usually does not peak until January or February, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services has reported that one resident died from the flu in October.

While most people feel miserable for a few days or weeks from the flu, it can be fatal. During the 2017-18 flu season, 391 people in North Carolina died from the flu.

As a preventive measure, now is the time for people, particularly those older than 64, younger than 6 or have medical conditions such as pregnancy, asthma, diabetes, obesity or heart disease, to get a flu shot. Other measures include washing one’s h...
