Annual Free Rein Gala Draws 200 People – Brevard, NC

November 25, 2019

Enjoying the food and fun at the gala are (from left) Betty Kendrick, Ray Stewart, Susan Stewart, Kevin Felderhoff, Laine Dunbar, Debi Garrett and David Hancock.

More than 200 party-goers heard it straight from the horse's mouth how their support helps Free Rein Center. As the special guest of the night, Zoey the pony encouraged attendees to "Feed My Friends" – her 10 buddies in the barn. The event held on Oct. 19 at Connestee Falls raised nearly $50,000 to support programs and student scholarships. Free Rein Center is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH International). Instructors are certified through a rigorous two-year training program. Free Rein is the only PATH member center in Transylvania, Henderson and Buncombe counties.

Through the generosity of individual donors and the local business community, Free Rein has been able to offer its services since 2000 to hundreds of students who otherwise would not have been able to afford to participate.
