Rebuilding The Jenkins Center

In 1952, when segregation was predominant in Brevard and Transylvania County, the Mary C. Jenkins Center opened in the Rosenwald community. For many years, the Mary C. Jenkins Center, with its meeting areas, outside space for children and swimming pool, was the hub of activity for the Rosenwald community.

Over the past seven decades, however, the pool was closed, the center was used less frequently and eventually it began to fall into disrepair. In 2018, the center was demolished.
