Destination Hike: Canebrake Trail in Gorges State Park

When people hear Gorges State Park, they normally think of Rainbow Falls and Turtleback Falls. While these two vistas certainly are beautiful to look at, they tend to get crowded due to their growing popularity on social media and various travel publications.

Those who want a more solitary day on trail can look to Canebrake for some swimming on Lake Jocassee, scenic views from atop Heart Break Ridge and a hike that offers a manageable amount of difficulty across a slightly longer day hike.

Starting from Gorges State Park's Frozen Creek Access, follow the Auger Hole Trail until it forks...
