Quartet Of Lady Tigers Score SMC All-Conference Honors

Following a bounceback year that included some impressive victories, four members of the Rosman Lady Tigers' volleyball team were named to the Smoky Mountain All-Conference team on Monday.

Heading up the selections were junior Ashley Hoxit and sophomore Elizabeth Daves.

Sophomore Josie Chappell and junior Laikyn Buchanan received honorable mention.

Hoxit was the team's offensive spark, leading the way with 158 kills, which was fourth-best in the conference.

She also led the team in aces (36), while finishing second in blocks (18) and serves received (141), and third in digs (109).

It was her second all-conference selection, after being named honorable mention last season.

Daves made her second first-team all-conference roster. As the team's libero, Daves led Rosman with 254 digs and 354 serves received, also finishing third with 24 aces.

Chappell and Buchanan both earned their first all-conference selections.

Buchanan had an impressive first varsity season, finishing second with 86 kills and leading the team in hitting percentage (.361).

She was also third in blocks (15) and fourth in aces (22).

Chappell was the primary table-setter for Rosman this season.

She led the team with 269 assists (second-most in the conference) was fifth in kills (52) and fourth in digs (105).

Rosman finished the season 12-10. The Lady Tigers advanced to the second round of the 1A playoffs before falling 3-1 to Robbinsville.

Junior Ashley Hoxit made her second Smoky Mountain All-Conference team after leading Rosman in kills (158) and aces (36) this year.
