Districts Still Problematic

Earlier this year, a three-judge panel ruled the U.S. Congressional districts were unconstitutionally gerrymandered. Under those unconstitutional districts, Republicans held 10 of North Carolina’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives while Democrats held three.
After legislators redrew the districts, both parties now believe the Republicans probably will win eight seats and the Democrats five. While the new state map is an improvement over the previously gerrymandered maps, a number of problems still remain.
