The recent decision by President Trump to launch a drone strike that killed Iranian Major General Qassim Suleimani and nine others has raised numerous questions about whether or not the president usurped Congress’s Constitutional authority.
Article I of the Constitution unequivocally gives Congress the power “to declare war.” The Founding Fathers, who were opposed to monarchies and placing too much power in the hands of one person, placed this grave responsibility in the hands of Congress.
