Despite trailing after the first quarter, the Brevard Blue Devils stormed back to defeat the Rosman Tigers by a final score of 61-47 last Thursday.

The Tigers came out hot, riding high after scoring their first win of the season last Tuesday against Robbinsville.

Rosman trailed 5-0 less than 30 seconds into the game, but clawed back to tie things up at 9-9 after two points in the lane from Benet Ramió-Comas.

A bucket from Talon Lance gave the Tigers an 11-9 lead, with Rosman stretching their advantage to 16-11 after Lance knocked down a 3-pointer.

The Tigers entered the second quarter leading 16-13.

Rosman kept their foot on the gas, with a finger-roll from Austin Shelton and a putback Ramió-Comas making it 20-13.

The Tigers led by as many as nine points as the visiting fans cheered their team on.

But just when it looked like Rosman might score the upset, Brevard turned things around.

The Blue Devils put together a 5-0 run cut the lead to 22-18. Moments later, a 3-pointer from Baxter Swicegood made it a two-point game at 24-22.

Brevard tied things up at 26 with 2:00 to go in the first half off an and-one bucket from Joe Powell.

Luke Whitmire knocked down a pair of free throws to put Brevard ahead 28-26, as the Blue Devils led 30-26 at the break.

Bahtle Griffin opened up the second half with two points for Brevard before a 3-pointer from Whitmire made it 35-28.

The Blue Devils stretched their lead to 42-30 following a fastbreak layup from Chris Wynn.

Lance gave Rosman a bit of life after converting a four-point play to make it 42-36 with 1:30 to go in the third quarter. But Brevard closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to hold a 48-36 lead with eight minutes to play.

The Blue Devils maintained their lead down the stretch, leading by as many as 21 points before taking the final decision.

The win improved Brevard's record to 5-6 while Rosman fell to 1-11.

The Blue Devils lost to Franklin on Friday, while Rosman defeated Blue Ridge.

Both teams have the week off before returning to the court on Friday, as Brevard travels to Hendersonville and Rosman plays at Blue Ridge.
