Important Lessons From From 'Mister Rogers'

Over the holidays I saw the movie, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” starring Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers. The movie is based on the story of Fred Roger’s relationship with a reporter who was assigned by “Esquire” to write a story on heroes.

In real life the reporter is Tom Junod, who had a reputation for scathing criticism in his writing. So much so that many celebrities didn’t want to be interviewed by him.

Even the wife of Lloyd Vogel (Junod’s name in the movie) asks him not to “ruin her childhood” with a hard-hitting article.

Yet, Lloyd’s dyed-in-the wool cyn...
