North Toxaway Baptist Church Food Bank

The food bank will be open from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Feb. 8. New clients must show proof of current address in Lake Toxaway, Sapphire and Quebec communities. They are located in the Old North Toxaway Baptist Church at the corner of Blue Ridge Road and Slick Fisher Road. We are there to help and you will be treated with respect and discretion.

Lake Toxaway Community Center

Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Lake Toxaway Community Center at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Lake Toxaway Fire Rescue building.

Notices

If you have something you would like to have posted in this column: a family member who is not doing well or may have recently passed and you wish the community to share their good thoughts and prayers, or if you have a community event that you would like to “spread the word,” contact ltcommunitycenter@gmail.com.

Fire Tax Change

The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners is considering a change to the fire tax in the county. If the commissioners vote to pass the proposed flat tax, all property owners in the Lake Toxaway area would see a significant increase to the fire tax for their property. Visit the website of the Lake Toxaway Community Center to view a letter from the Lake Toxaway Fire and Rescue Chief Carmon West on this important issue.

Quilt Group

The Lake Toxaway Quilt group will not meet during the winter months. We will start our Tuesday meetings up again in the early spring. Check the community center website and the notices in the paper to stay up to date on the exact date when we will start meeting again. Contact us at ltcommunitycenter@gmail.com if you would like us to add your name to the contact list.

Building Rental

The Lake Toxaway building rental is closed for the season. Rental enquiries will start in the spring. Contact Pam Owen at (828) 553-0373.
