Selica UMC

Community Table will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 11:30 a.m. at Selica United Methodist Church. Join them for a great meal and fellowship. The church is also celebrating its 100th year of heart-warming Methodism. Last week’s program on the history of their church was canceled due to the weather. Watch the paper for dates of future events or call any of the members of the church.

In The Bible Mission

Services were canceled last Sunday due to the weather. The mission meets every Sunday morning at the Cathey’s Creek Community Center. Sunday school/Bible study starts at 10 a.m. and singing and preaching with Rev. Pete Lee starts at 11 a.m. Visitors are always welcome.

Crafty Ladies

The Crafty Ladies meet every Monday at 1 p.m. at the Selica United Methodist Church. Some of the members have been sick. We pray that they will be feeling better really soon and back to knitting.

Last week, Barbara was cleaning up around the side of the church and there was a Lenten Rose blooming. It was close to the building. The Lenten Rose belongs to the buttercup family.

Birthdays

Happy birthday to Caroline Roess Whitten on Sunday, Feb. 16. Happy Birthday to Denise Gravely on Feb. 12.

Books For Rosman

Elementary Students

Rosman Elementary School is currently collecting new and gently used books for its 7th annual Give 5, Read 5 book drive. Books collected go home with students to build personal at-home libraries. The hope is to collect at least five books for each of the 325 students. They will be collecting until late May. Contact Crystal Whitman at 862-4431 for more information or to arrange for pick-up.

Prayers

Pray for those who are sick and in the hospital. Pray for babies, especially little ones with health problems. Remember firefighters, medical personnel, law enforcement officers, military, and clergy. Pray for their safety.

CHD Awareness Week

CHD: Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week is Feb. 7-14. CHD is the world’s most common birth defect, affecting approximately 1 in 100 births.

The Window

Bullet wanted to go outside this past Saturday. He would only stick his nose out the door, watch it snow, sniff the air, and turn around and go back to his bed. He did this all day until after it quit snowing. It was a pretty snow, and if it had kept it up for a longer time, we may still be digging out.
