Tourism Board Gives $100,000 To Ecusta Trail – Transylvania County, NC

Friends of The Ecusta Trail was founded in 2009 as a volunteer organization to advocate for the purchase and development of the Ecusta Trail. The group's efforts has included garnering endorsements for the trail by the cities of Brevard and Hendersonville, the town of Laurel Park and Henderson County commissioners, Transylvania County commissioners, however, have been a hold out.

On Feb. 27, at the Transylvania County Tourism (TCT) Board of Directors annual retreat, a motion was passed to set aside $100,000 from the organization's fund balance for the development of the proposed Ecusta Trail.

TCT previously pledged support of the rail to trail conversion back in June of 2015, emphasizing the benefit that the trail would have on the community, according to a press release.
