Wet Weather Makes For Good Boating in Headwaters State Forest

Joining a large swath of protected lands along Transylvania County’s southern boundary, Headwaters State Forest opened to the public in September 2018. Following nine years of collaboration, fundraising and political strategy, the 6,730-acre conservation project is a product of collaboration between the North Carolina Forest Service, former Congressman Charles Taylor, Conserving Carolina, the Conservation Fund, the Land & Water Conservation Fund, Forest Legacy Program and generous private donors.
