Last updated 3/19/2020 at 4:28pm
Even though the physical structure of the Transylvania County Library closed to the public Wednesday evening, this morning, March 19, the library began offering curbside service.
Curbside service will be available from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
In order to use the curbside service, patrons should follow these procedures:
•Patrons should place items on hold through the online catalog or by calling the library reference department at 884-3151, extension 4.
•Once your item(s) are available, you will be notified.
•Once notified, come to the library, park in a designated parking spot, and call 884-3151, extension 2.
•Library staff will ask you for your library card number when you call, so be sure to bring it with you.
•Only items placed on hold will be available for curbside pickup.
•Do not use the curbside library if you are feeling sick in any way.
To encourage patrons to stay home, checkout periods for all library materials have temporarily been increased to four weeks. Any currently borrowed library item with a March due date has been automatically extended to April 13 and fines will not accrue during this period.
While the library is physically closed to the public, materials may be returned in the outside book returns only. The library is currently unable to receive donations of books or other materials.
Library patrons are encouraged to explore the abundant online resources available through the library’s website: library.transylvaniacounty.org. Patrons have electronic access thousands of ebooks and digital audiobooks, online courses, magazines, streaming video, language learning tools, one-on-one tutoring and more.
Although the library is physically closed to patrons at this time, library staff will be available by phone to answer questions.
Since changes to library protocols could change during the coming days, patrons are encouraged to check the library’s website for any further developments.
