Churches

A lot of the area churches have canceled services on Sunday and Wednesday, plus other activities for at least two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic that has everyone nervous about. Some listed are Selica United Methodist Church, In the Bible Mission and others. It just pays to be cautious, especially us older folks. Praying that everything will soon be better.

Bandmasters

The Bandmaster will be having a benefit for the Cathey’s Creek Community Center to help with upgrades to the building, which is over 100 years old. The benefit will be held on Saturday, May 23, so mark your calendars for this fun event.

Fishing

Fishing season opens soon. I remember when our kids were young and we, my husband and I, would take the kids up on the creek fishing. I would make a big cake of cornbread, fry a pan of potatoes and he would catch speckled trout. We would clean them on the creek bank and fry them in a cast-iron skillet over a camp fire. Now that was some good eating. Easter time always reminds me of those fishing trips. I can almost smell the smoke from the fire and fish frying now.
