Wear Blue Day Set For April 3 - Transylvania County, NC

Last updated 3/18/2020 at 2:58pm

On Friday, April 3, Kathie’s House, the Transylvania County Children’s Advocacy Center, joins Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina in Wear Blue Day, a national day dedicated to bringing awareness to effective child abuse and neglect prevention efforts.

“Wear Blue Day is a wonderful opportunity to show that connections matter during Child Abuse Prevention Month and every day,” said Sharon Hirsch, Prevent Child Abuse NC president and CEO. “Whether you’re a retiree, a business leader, an elected official, a student or a teacher, a child care professional, a parent, a doctor or anything between, Wear Blue Day is a chance to highlight all the different ways you are making positive connections for children and families in your community.”

Prevent Child Abuse NC and Kathie’s House invites Transylvania County residents to either find one new way to make a positive connection in their community during Wear Blue Day or to share their story about how they are, or someone they know is, a positive connection.

How you can participate in Wear Blue Day:

•Wear blue on Friday, April 3. Tell people you are participating in a day to highlight the importance of making positive connections that matter in your life.

•Take a picture of yourself dressed in blue and share it on social media using the hashtag #WearBlueDay.

•Share a story of how you are a positive connection in your community or how someone else was a positive connection to you in your life. Use the hashtags #BeAConnection and #WearBlueDay or email Kris Demers at kdemers@pre

“We encourage everyone in Transylvania County to participate in Wear Blue Day and make a commitment to being a connection to others in their community just by being themselves,” said Susan Huter, center director of Kathie’s House.
