Polar Plunge To Benefit Special Olympics Held

The sixth annual Polar Plunge supporting Transyl-vania County Special Olympics took place on a sunny, cold day on Feb. 29. Forty-three brave souls leaped into Lake Atagahi on Leap Day in Leap Year. Many thanks to Connestee Falls POA for permitting the jump into 45.3 degree water in February.

The day began with a snow flurry, coating the roads in Connestee, but by 10 a.m., the sun was shining on all of us. The atmosphere was cheered by Marcus Lester and fun music, including line dancing by the lake. Great barbecue was supplied by the fine folks at Carson Creek Baptist Church, as well...
