Local Day Cares Are Facing Difficult Decisions

The county has opened the Recreation Center as a K-12 camp for children of essential workers and run by Recreation Department staff, who have had to cancel all other programming.

In the era of the coronavirus in Transylvania County, many day cares have had to make the tough decision of whether to keep their doors open to care for the children of essential workers in the community, or to close and protect the health and safety of their staff and kids.

After Gov. Roy Cooper ordered all K-12 public school schools to close, the right decision in these times is unclear.
