State Handling COVID-19 Well

From a health standpoint, Gov. Roy Cooper and state health officials seem to be doing a good job of handling the COVID-19 crisis.

As of last Friday, April 17, the state reported the following:

•COVID-19 tests: 72,981

•COVID-19 positive cases: 5,859

•COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized: 429

•COVID-19 deaths: 152

Since the percentage of those who are being hospitalized is less than 10 percent of those who have tested positive, the vast majority of COVID-19 patients do not require significant medical assistance. That is good news. Our hospitals are not being overwhelmed w...
