While potting up plants for the Master Gardener's annual plant sale usually held in April but on hold for a bit while our country heals, I paused to embrace the various plants in my yard that have brought me joy over many years - decades even. Some people call them "pass-along plants."

I like to call them my personal heirloom plants, although not for their botanical heirloom quality. It's because they feel like family heirlooms, passed along to me from friends, neighbors and family. Each has a story of how it came to be in my garden.
