On Sunday night, April 12, wind damaged the roof of the building housing the Humane Society Thrift Store in downtown Brevard, allowing more than 3 inches of rain to damage all three floors of the rear half of the building.
There was 2 inches of standing water in the basement Monday morning.
The building is currently drying out, the roof is being replaced and the cats have been moved to foster care.
The Humane Society lost over half of its stock (including three-fourths of the clothes) to water damage:
•All kids clothes, toys, car seats and strollers;
•All purses, totes and backpack...
