Everyday Education: Here's How TCS Students Are Learning

Candace Reese's third graders with Chromebooks at home share joyful moments, showing each other their faces as well as their favorite furry friends at home. This side of life is often shared among students in words, rarely by videoconference, until now.

As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Governor Roy Cooper closed all North Carolina public schools with an executive order on March 14. Some schools closed for two weeks, assessing how to respond to the new reality. This mandate didn't stop teaching and learning in Transylvania County, however; it only changed how TCS teachers and students attend school. Virtual days expanded, as teachers, students and families adapted to a whole new level of remote learning.
