Despite the turmoil and uncertainty in our lives caused by the coronavirus outbreak, we are approaching election time with all of its drama and decisions as to who will lead us back to a sense of normalcy - both in our personal lives as well as overall economic recovery.

When it comes to the education of children in North Carolina, we must not return the old normal! Sam Edney, a native of Henderson County, local business owner and former member of the Transylvania County School Board, is a strong advocate of improving the educational experience for our children.

According to Real Facts NC, our state continued its downward slide in per student spending for 2018-2019 school year, down to 42nd in the country; nearly $3,000 per student below the national average. Plus, North Carolina teachers earn around $9,000 below the national average. Sam will work hard to reverse this negative dereliction of our responsibility to our children and our educators.

The world is turning more to technology and we need graduates who can compete. Sam has school board and real life experiences that have provided him with valuable insights on how to approach tough problems. We need Sam in the N.C. House!
