Brevard FUMC

We are still in the Easter season on the Christian calendar. Easter is not just a one Sunday event or even a season of Sundays. The early Christians believed that every Sunday was a celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Brevard First United Methodist Church is not gathering in our sanctuary during these extraordinary times, but we are worshipping. Listen to our service at 11 a.m. over WSQL radio (102FM and 1240AM) or go to the church Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/BrevardFirstUnitedMethodistChurch. We hope you will join us.

Lutheran Church Of The Good Shepherd

LGCS continues to provide weekly online worship resources available on our website to keep us grounded in the scriptures and music that brings glory to God. This will continue at least through the end of May as options are evaluated for restarting in-person worship, depending on state, local and Synod guidelines. A lectionary study of the Psalms occurs each weekday morning at 10 a.m., and each evening at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Ken Albright hosts a study of the Gospel reading of the day. To participate in either or both opportunities for spiritual fellowship (which will run through May 17), contact the church office. A new small group opportunity entitled “Companions for the Journey” will begin the week of May 18 for those who may be experiencing grief, anxiety or depression in new or unexpected ways due to the current health crisis. For more information (the group will meet via Zoom), contact the church office.

To learn more about LCGS, contact the church office at (828) 883-3680, email [email protected] or go to http://www.lutheran churchbrevardnc.com. The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is located at 22 Fisher Road in Brevard. Worship services are held at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.

NEXT Church

NEXT Church normally meets at the Boys & Girls Club in Brevard at 10 a.m. on Sunday. However, we are currently joining with our community in doing our best to flatten the curve of COVID-19’s spread. So we will be recording Bible Teachings online for a few Sundays. The videos will be viewable at http://www.nextchurchnc.net. NEXT Kids virtue for the month of May is Determination - deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started. Unstuck– don’t give up. Verse: Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop, if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9.

Go to the NEXT website for details at http://www.NEXTCHURCHNC.net, like us on Facebook or call Pastor Dave Blackburn at (828) 384-1951.

Unitarian Universalists

Please visit and “Like” Unitarian Universalists of Transylvania County on Facebook. We will have a live-stream of our Sunday service at 10 a.m. to help everyone remain at a healthy distance from one another. Go to http://www.facebook.com/uutc.org. If you have any questions or trouble finding this page on Facebook, email [email protected] Join Rev. Bob Renjilian for “What Children’s Stories Taught Me About Life.” Children’s stories provide all sorts of lessons on human values, dealing with life’s circumstances and imagining a different future. This sermon will refer to a few stories that made a difference in my life’s journey and get us thinking about our journey together.

Our children’s book reading will be posted at 9:30 a.m. on the same Facebook page for you to enjoy with your children before the 10 a.m. live service. We hope that you will join us.
