Local COVID-19 Cases Remain At Seven-Brevard NC

As of Wednesday, Transylvania County remained at seven confirmed COVID-19 cases, while the state was reporting (**) 597 COVID-19-related deaths.

As of Wednesday, the state was also reporting 210,457 (***) completed tests in the state and 15,816 (*) laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases.

There were also 521 patients currently hospitalized.

On Monday, according to Public Health Director Elaine Russell, Transylvania County has had 228 negative COVID-19 tests, with 13 more pending, so far.

The laboratory turnaround for testing results is between 48 and 72 hours, Russell said.

*This number reflects cases that were tested and returned positive, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial labs.

All data are preliminary. Not all cases of COVID-19 are tested, so this does not represent the total number of people in North Carolina who have or had COVID-19.


**This number reflects deaths reported to public health in persons with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19.

Deaths will be included in this count after confirmation by local public health departments.

***This number reflects testing completed by the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and reporting hospital and commercial laboratories.

According to the state, Henderson had 250 cases and 30 deaths, and Buncombe had 105 cases and four deaths.
