Hope that all of our readers had a nice Mother’s Day even if we couldn’t go to church and be with them. Just be sure to keep in touch with all of your elder family members by phone during this time of the stay-at-home order and also after as they will still need to stay away from this terrible virus.
Balsam Grove Jam Session
The Balsam Grove Community Club will not be opening for Jam Sessions in May. This is because many of our attendees are among those considered to be vulnerable, either because of age or other factors. Also, we could not host these events in any way that would meet the building occupancy requirements during the phased-in-reopening. We are looking to being back in full swing when it’s safe for all of us. The playground will be opened when the public playgrounds are allowed to reopen. If you have any questions, call Bernice Powell at 884-6058 or Carol Gardner at 884-6247. We hope everyone is safe and healthy. We miss seeing all our neighbors and friends.
Balsam Grove Playground
We are closing the Balsam Grove Community Club playground until Gov. Cooper cancels our stay-at-home order. Playgrounds were included in the order, and we want to do all we can to keep our children safe. Like our mothers taught us, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for your cooperation.
Just a reminder, if you have donations for our yard sales, contact a community club officer to meet you at the community center to put it in the building. Items get ruined if they are just dropped at the door, and then we have to pay to have it hauled off. We appreciate your cooperation. Calls may be made to Bernice Powell at 884-6058 or Carol Gardner at 884-6247 or any other officer.
Silver Sneakers On Zoom
Balsam Grove is using a Zoom class to continue our Silver Sneakers program. We have participants from Balsam Grove, Silversteen, Brevard, Detroit and Holden beach who meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for visiting and exercise. If you have Silver Sneakers, it’s free! If not, it costs $5 per session. All you need is a device that connects to the internet and the Zoom app. We’ll even help you figure out the technology if you need help. For more information, contact Melissa McCall at 577-3724 or at [email protected]
