Despite stressful adjustments to our daily lives in personal, social and economic endeavors related to the coronavirus pandemic, we can likely all agree that this year's spring season has been something special. As we continue to find new lifestyles and routines, I've certainly been humbled by the weather framing this time of quarantining, gardening, working from home, and in limited interactions with the outside world.

In my opinion, a more typical spring in the southern Appalachians evokes cold rain into April, a few days of pleasant temperatures, then directly to heavy heat and humidi...
