Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian

This Sunday, May 24, the Rev. Keith Thompson will bring a message from John 15:12-17, “The Friendship of God.” Please join us for worship online at http://www.BDRPC.org.

BrevardFirst UMC

Luke records Jesus’ last resurrection appearance to his followers (Acts 1:1-11) during which he gives them some “last words.” He tells them to wait in Jerusalem until they had received power from on high. Then, he said, they would be his “witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” Suddenly, an amazing thing happened. Jesus ascended to heaven.

What does it mean for us to receive “power” so as to be Christ’s “witnesses?” And what does his ascension to the Father mean for the church and the faithful today?

Join us for worship this Sunday at 11 a.m. The service is live streamed on http://www.facebook.com/BrevardFirstUnitedMethodistChurch and broadcast over WSQL radio.

Lutheran Church Of The Good Shepherd

LGCS continues to provide weekly online worship resources available on our website to keep us grounded in the scriptures and music that brings glory to God. This will continue at least through the end of May as options are evaluated for restarting in-person worship, depending on state, local and Synod guidelines. A new small group opportunity entitled “Companions for the Journey” began this week for those who may be experiencing grief, anxiety or depression in new or unexpected ways due to the current health crisis. For more information (the group meets via Zoom), contact the church office.

To learn more about LCGS, contact the church office at (828) 883-3680 or email lcgs@comporium. net or go to http://www.lutheranchurchbrevardnc.com. The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is located at 22 Fisher Road in Brevard. Worship services are held at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.

NEXT Church

NEXT Church normally meets at the Boys & Girls Club in Brevard at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings. However, we are currently joining with our community in doing our best to flatten the curve of COVID-19’s spread. So, we will be recording Bible teachings online for a few Sundays. The videos will be viewable at http://www.nextchurchnc.net.

NEXT Kids’ virtue for the month of May is Determination – deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started. Unstuck – don’t give up. Verse: “Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9. Go to the NEXT website for details at http://www.NEXTCHURCHNC.net, like us on Facebook or call Pastor Dave Blackburn at (828) 384-1951.

Oak Grove Community

Oak Grove Community Church will have a singing at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 23. The featured singers will be the Cold Creek Gospel Group. Everyone is welcome. The church is located across from Blue Ridge Community College in Brevard.
