Notice is hereby given pursuant to GS 163-33(8) that a 2nd primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in Transylvania County to vote in the following contests:

US House of Representatives Congress-ional District 11. The runoff election is to decide the Republican party’s nomination to be placed on the General Election ballot in November.

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the day of the election, Tuesday, June 23. One-stop early voting will be held at the Election Center lobby. One-stop early voting will be open from Thursday, June 4 until Saturday, June 20.

June 4-5 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

June 8-12 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

June 15-19 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

June 20 (Sat.) 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

Canvass will be held in the Transylvania County Election Center at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6.

Absentee voting by mail is available. Requests for an absentee ballot must be made on an absentee request form (available on the State Board of Elections website, on the Transylvania County Board of Elections website and the Election Center office), and must be received in the Transylvania County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16.

Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Transylvania County Board of Elections by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day (ballots received by mail after this time will be timely if received within three business days and postmarked by Election Day).

Individuals registered to vote with the Transylvania County Board of Elections who meet the following conditions may vote in the June runoff election.

1. All registered Republicans

2. Registered Unaffiliated voters who chose a Republican ballot in the March primary

3. Registered Unaffiliated voters who did not participate in the March primary

The Board of Elections office is still accepting new voter registrations, but they will not be processed until after the 2nd primary Canvass has been completed on July 6, 2020.

Individuals voting in person are entitled to assistance by an election official, or, if assistance is needed due to disability or illiteracy, by a qualified person of their choice. Voting sites are accessible to all voters. Curbside voting is available for voters who are not able to enter voting sites. COVID-19 procedures and social distancing will be implemented for early voting and Election Day for the safety of workers and voters.

Brevard #4 – Myers Dining Hall

Boyd – North Transylvania Fire Department

Cathey’s Creek –Cathey’s Creek Community Center

Cedar MountainCedar Mountain Community Center

Dunn’s Rock – Dunn’s Rock Community Center

*East Fork – Rosman Town Hall

Little River – Little River Community Center

Pisgah Forest – Transylvania County Public Safety Facility

Rosman Eastatoe – Rosman Town Hall

TC1 – Balsam Grove Community Center

TC7 – Lake Toxaway Community Center

Williamson Creek – Williamson Creek Community Center

*Note: The Board of Elections has temporarily moved the East Fork precinct’s polling site to the Rosman Town Hall for the June 23 2nd primary. Mailings will be sent to affected voters.
