Balsam Grove Community Club Meeting

The Balsam Grove Community Club will resume its monthly meetings at 7 p.m., Monday, June 1. We will meet at the community center, with social distancing, and we encourage everyone to wear masks.

Balsam Grove Playground

We are closing the Balsam Grove Community Club playground until Gov. Cooper cancels our stay-at-home order. Playgrounds were included in the order, and we want to do all we can to keep our children safe. Like our mothers taught us, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for your cooperation.

Just a reminder, if you have donations for your yard sales, contact an officer of the community club to meet you at the community center to put it in the building. Items get ruined if they are just dropped off at the door, and then we have to pay to have it hauled off. We appreciate your cooperation. Calls may be made to Bernice Powell at 884-6058 or Carol Gardner at 884-6247 or any other officer.

God’s Way Food Pantry

The food pantry is no longer able to allow after hours pick-up. The hours are from 10 until 11:30 a.m. every other Saturday. The next food pantry will be Saturday, May 30.

Blessings to David, Lydia and staff.

Silver Sneakers On Zoom

Balsam Grove is using a Zoom class to continue the Silver Sneakers program. We have participants from Balsam Grove, Silversteen, Brevard, Detroit and Holden Beach who meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for visiting and exercise. If you have Silver Sneakers, it’s free. If not, it costs $5 per session. All you need is a device that connects to the internet and the Zoom app. We’ll even help you figure out the technology if you need help. For more information, contact Melissa McCall at 577-3724 or at [email protected] It’s lots of fun!

Those celebrating a birthday this week are Jimmy Boyette and Jason Warren, May 28; Creid Ayers and Corey Gaddy, May 29; Sammy Seale and Augustus Owen, June 1; Chesnie Galloway, June 2; and Desiree Griffin, June 3. We wish all of these a happy birthday.

Rent The Centers

If you want to rent the Balsam Grove Community Center, call 884-6058 to book the date.

Anyone wishing to rent the Quebec Community Center should call Ann Hendrix at 862-4974.
