What is going on at the city of Brevard’s Cathey’s Creek Water Treatment Facility?
City Manager Jim Fatland provided the following response:
The City of Brevard was awarded a $1 million grant from the state for Cathey’s Creek stream restoration and a new water treatment plant intake.
The contractor is North State Environmental.
According to the contract, “all in-channel raw water intake rehabilitation and stream restoration work shall be completed between April 15, 2020, and Oct. 15, 2020.
Re-vegetation and supplemental planting activities may occur after Oct. 15, 2020 but before May 1, 2021.”
A breakdown of the project budget is as follows:
•North State Environ-mental, $572,202.43.
•Contingency, $28,610 .12.
•Technical services (planning and design), $228,000.
•Technical services (construction phase), $15,000.
•Administration, $57, 000.
•Subtotal, $900,812.55.
•Closing costs, $13,512.
•Total eligible costs, $914,325.
