Proud Of Caring Community

Last updated 6/8/2020 at 3:04pm

A big thank you to all our emergency services, especially during this pandemic. This also includes the essential businesses that have kept us going and those that are now opening back up.

And when we think it cannot get any worse, we have the unjustified killing of George Floyd by a police officer with other officers looking on. As someone else has said, it is an affront to all of law enforcement who serve and protect us throughout this great nation. I pray that justice will be served and this nation starts healing. I want to personally thank our Chief Harris and Sheriff Mahoney. Besides responding to all calls for help during this pandemic, they are now being faced with the protests. Thanks to the citizens of Brevard for peaceful protests and not resorting to any violence or looting.

My wife and I are proud to be members of this caring community.

I also appreciate Sheriff Mahoney’s common sense approach to businesses that have opened a little early, a necessity to many to feed their families and to make a living. Sheriff Mahoney made a rational decision not to enforce this and put an additional strain on his department’s men and women. As a retired police officer, I appreciate his approach.

As other articles have said, social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and know that you do not have to go anywhere unless you want to and feel safe doing it. Thanks for listening.
