Kneeling Is A Sign Of Respect, Humility

Religious traditions carry their own sets of symbols. Some are images (the cross, the Star of David, the baptismal pool or font, the prayer rug). Some are physical gestures employed in corporate worship or in private prayer. These include praying with hands raised, making the sign of the cross, bowing as a sign of respect, and, in most traditions, some form of kneeling as the worshipper petitions God for help or forgiveness or comfort.
