Sports Workouts Begin Monday With Restrictions In Place

Exactly three months to the day since high school sports were shut down due to the early outbreak of COVID-19, athletics take the first step to returning this Monday, as the N.C. High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) allows schools to enter Phase One of its re-opening process.
On March 15, Gov. Roy Cooper announced a two-week closure of all public schools, essentially pulling the plug on high school athletics. That closure was extended until May 15 before Gov. Cooper canceled the rest of the school year on April 24.
