Reunion, March Reject Racism-Brevard NC

It was over 30 years ago that Jvonne Hubbard was told she could no longer see her childhood best friend, Patience Camp.

Camp is black. Hubbard is white.

Hubbard said her father had seen the two play at school one day and forbid her from seeing Camp again.

Her father, she said, was the grand dragon of the Brevard Klu Klux Klan at the time.

The two finally reunited last Wednesday at the neighborhood march "Still We Walk" organized by Camp and a neighbor, Virginia Watkins, to promote racial unity.
