School Sports Unsure About Contests – Transylvania County

With COVID-19 cases setting a new daily record for North Carolina on Tuesday, and with Gov. Roy Cooper yet to make an announcement regarding the reopening of public schools, there is a growing sense of unease about the ability to hold high school sports contests this fall.

Teams across the state were allowed to return to workouts this week after last week's dead period.

Workouts initially opened on June 15.

Athletic directors at Brevard and Rosman say workouts have been well attended.

"Our numbers were, surprisingly, good," said Brevard AD Mick Galloway. "Football was averaging anywhere...
