Elizabeth Baker, 85, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020.
She was born in Brevard to Russell and Lillie Norman, Jan. 3, 1935.
She married Charles Baker July 12, 1975, in Brevard.
She began the early parts of her career as a domestic worker and as a factory worker at American Thread. She completed her career at DuPont, where she retired after 20 years of service.
A devoted member of Bethel “A” Baptist Church for over 70 years, she was a proud member of the Usher Board and the Golden Circle. She also served on the hospitality ministry and briefly sang in the choir. She served as a hostess for Rise & Shine Neighbors In Ministry and was also one of the original members of the Bethel “A” bus stop ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Lillie Norman; her husband, Charles Baker; sisters, Ella Mae Moss, Indiana Conley, Ada Mae Robinson and Reesie Madison; and her brothers, Joe Norman, Rufus Norman, Amos Norman and Jacob Norman.
She is survived by her children, James E. Norman, of Shelby, Jeff Norman, of Atlanta, Ga., Mike Norman (Darlene), of Clarksville, Ky., Chris Norman, of Brevard, Pam King (Alfred), of Hendersonville, Dana Norman (Cynthia), of Charlotte, N.C., and Ann Norman of Brevard; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces and nephews, who loved her very much.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at Bethel “A” Baptist Church. Masks are required.
