Before someone who has contracted the virus is released from quarantine are they retested? If so, wouldn’t that help determine how many have recovered?
Tara Rybka, with Transylvania Public Health, provided the following response: Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines allow for people with COVID-19 to be released from isolation if they have had two negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
However, this is not done very often because it exposes health care workers to people known to have COVID-19 and creates more of a burden on the already backlogged testing system.
