As reported in this paper, just an “uptick” in COVID-19 cases in our county? Whoa! We should be scared silly!
The reported rate of infections actually changed really drastically beginning about July 4. It is even higher than that in Buncombe County. Using the actual data to establish the exponential relationship involved, it is easy to predict that if we stay on this path, we will have 300 cases by July 30, and 10,000 cases by Sept. 2!
The rate of increase we were seeing before July 4 would have produced only 100 cases by Sept. 2.
