Christine (Johnson) Dockens

Christine (Johnson) Dockens, 92, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at home with her family by her side.

She was born in South Carolina to the late Alma and William Henson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Sweet, and Lucille Silvers, as well as a brother, Frank Henson.

After moving to Brevard to work at Ecusta, she met John M. Johnson and they wed Easter Sunday, 1947, and proudly raised three children. She gained a second family in 1995 when she wed Walter “Pete” Dockens after the passing of her beloved Johnny.

She was an avid gardener and loved Braves baseball. She cherished every single picture that she was given of her family and loved to document her travels throughout the country on organized bus tours.

She is survived by her children, Mike Johnson, and wife, Vanessa, of Pisgah Forest; Judy Glass, and husband, Al, of Annapolis, Md .; and Tim Johnson, and wife, Lynn, of Charlotte; sisters, Wilma Raxter, Ruth Fanning and Betty Sherwood. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many very special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Christine Dockens will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Home Care & Hospice, 1266 Asheville Highway in Brevard, NC 28712.
