John Lewis, A Man Of Courage

We have said goodbye to Representative John Lewis, of Georgia, who served 34 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

We got to know him years ago when, though young and short, trained in non-violent methods along with other young people, he demonstrated his bravery as he led the march across the Edmund Pettis Bridge in Selma, Ala., on March 7, 1965. In his light tan trench coat he stood at the forefront of the line of marchers. Across the bridge, the group knelt to pray.
