Last Thursday, Dr. Cathy Jachowski searches for hellbenders in Looking Glass Creek in Pisgah National Forest. She is an assistant professor in the Forestry and Environmental Conservation Department at Clemson University. Some of the local hellbender population have been tagged using the same technology used on dogs and cats. The device she is using will detect a signal under the big rocks, where the hellbenders make a nest.
Last Thursday was a busy day at Looking Glass Falls. Some people were on vacation, and some were working. (Times Photos by Park Baker)
