Shade Wilbanks' family has always placed great value on education. They moved to Pisgah Forest nine years ago so their four girls – Grace, Trinity, Madalynn and Shade – could attend Brevard Academy.

It was a tough decision because Lake Toxaway holds a special meaning to Shade's parents Carolyne and Derek: that is where they met and fell in love. Mom was a chef at the Lake Toxaway Country Club and Dad the golf pro.

Wilbanks enjoyed her years at Brevard Academy in kindergarten through eighth grade. Like most teenagers, she was thrilled to enter high school. Brevard High School offer...
