Thomas William McCrary

Thomas William McCrary, 94, of Pisgah Forest, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.

A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Ida McCall McCrary. In addition to his parents, his brother, Charles McCrary, and his sisters, Dola Shipman, Helen Duckworth, Dorothy Case, Lucille Lawler, Kathleen Moore and Mary Wilson, also preceded him in death.

An active member of Little River Baptist Church, he was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.

Self-employed for many years, he loved people and his community. He was a “Little River Man.” He was light-hearted and loved to laugh, and he loved his family.

His loving survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jayne Melton McCrary; stepsons, Mark Parker, of Little River, and Matt Parker (Amy), of Little River; grandchildren, Emma Parker, Grayson Parker, and Anna Parker; sister-in-law, Judy McCrary; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at Little River Baptist Church, with Rev. Marc Reynolds officiating.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.
