Jeff Storey said preparing for an election during a pandemic has been "quite challenging," including seeing significant increases in absentee by mail voting requests and needing more space for voters to cast their ballots safely.

Storey, Transylvania County's director of elections, made the comments during a presentation during the Board of Commissioners' recent meeting.

There are three basic methods of voting: absentee by mail; early voting, which begins on Oct. 15 and election day voting on Nov. 3.
