Number 7 Arts Gallery To Open 'Focus Forward'

Having extra time to create is a gift for any artist. During the COVID-19 shutdown earlier this year, the artists at Number 7 Arts gallery in downtown Brevard took full advantage of that time to create new work that is being featured in the gallery as part of a new show.

“Focus Forward - A New Perspective” is the first of three Number 7 member shows being hosted by the gallery.

“As artists, we all miss the monthly gallery walks when we could meet more of the public and display our new work. We created these three themed member shows as a way to fill that gap,” according to a gallery spokesperson.

The concept of this first show is to showcase art that was created during the months that the gallery was closed because of the COVID-19 shutdown.

“We’re excited to present 30 new works of art for this show.”

Number 7 Arts is a program of the Transylvania Community Arts Council and is the longest running gallery in the county. 2020 marked the gallery’s 21st year in operation. The gallery operates as a co-op and represents 32 local artists and a wide range of media.

For the rest of September, the gallery is open Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 4 p.m. Starting in October, the gallery will resume its regular full-time schedule Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon - 4 p.m.
