The following briefs are from Thursday, Oct. 15, 1970, edition of The Transylvania Times.
One of the worst storms in the history of the county hit Transylvania Saturday, Oct. 10, and early Sunday morning, and the heavy torrential rains on the headwaters of the French Broad river in the Brevard and Rosman areas burst several small dams, washed out sections of several secondary roads and sent mud sliding into others. Damages ran into the thousands and thousands of dollars. The damages were caused when some 12 inches of rain fell in the Rosman area, and over 8 inches here at Brevard.
