At the North Broad Street/Main Street intersection in Brevard, if someone is waiting at the light to turn left onto East Main, there is often enough space to go around them on the right, especially if no one is parked in the last spot on the right hand side of the road. Even though there is only one traffic lane at that point, is it legal to pass cars there?
No. According to Brevard Police Chief Phil Harris, veering into parking spots (even if empty) to go around a car turning left onto Main Street from North Broad is not legal. Harris said, he thinks it is an unsafe action.
