Cathey’s Creek Community Center

In the Bible Mission meets every Sunday morning at the Cathey’s Creek Community Center and includes singing and preaching service with Rev Pete Lee, starting at 11 a.m. Visitors are always welcome.

New Hope Baptist Church

New Hope Baptist Church elected a new pastor this past Sunday, Lee Patrick. We welcome him and his wife, Bethany, and new baby Georgia. Looking to a bright future for the church. The church is located at 76 Goodneighbor Drive, right off U.S. 64 west. Turn in front of the Harmony Korner convenience store. We are collecting items for the Appalachian Christmas Outreach backpacks for children and teens in the Appalachian coalfields. The collection due date is Nov. 7.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Recently I have learned of two beautiful women who have the disease. Praying that they do well with treatment. I also know a woman who has had breast cancer and has recovered with treatment. She is doing well now. Pray for those who are sick, in the hospital, nursing facilities, the caregivers and those who lost loved ones.

Happy wedding anniversary to Johnny and Emma Whitmire on Oct. 21. Congratulations and have many more. We hope Gary and Janie Hill had a wonderful 10th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10. They were married 10-10-10; easy to remember. They celebrated while on vacation in Wyoming visiting son Evan Hill, who lives in Saratoga. They had good weather, but the air was smoky at times due to the wildfires out West. They wanted to visit Yellowstone National Park, but the gates were closed due to snow.

The Window

Leaves are falling. Everything is fading preparing for a long winter’s rest and renewal. The recent frost wilted some of the plants. I sat the mums under the covered porch. They are so pretty. I’m trying to enjoy them a little while longer. My daughter and I are starting to think about Christmas decorations, which will be here sooner than we think. Then, there is Thanksgiving, and we do have a lot to be thankful for. Has Halloween been canceled?

Rent The CCCC

For information on renting the Cathey’s Creek Community Center, contact Joann Galloway at 883-3557. It is a great place for birthday parties, baby showers and baby reveals and meetings. The community center is the voting precinct for Cathey’s Creek. Nov. 3 will be here soon. CCCC is a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Send news to me at [email protected] or call 883-8753 or text a message to (828) 384-0116. Thanks for reading and have a great week. October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Show your pastor you appreciate them. Cathey’s Creek Baptist Church did last Sunday. That is the only one that I have heard of, so far. One more Sunday left this month.
