Fan Restrictions Could Hurt School Sports Budgets – Transylvania County, NC

In a little less than a month, after nearly a 250-day hiatus, high school sports are scheduled to return.

The players will play. The coaches will coach. The officials will officiate.

But the pageantry and energy of the fans will be conspicuously absent.

And while the more immediate impact will be one of disappointment, the long-term financial effects could have dire consequences for high school athletic departments across the state.

Last Thursday, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) released its updated guidelines for the 2020-2021 sports seasons.
